Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

We are driven to fight for Charlie's future. The love for Charlie is what drove us to set up Chance for Charlie.
When we set up this charitable trust it was our aim to fund raise for two main purposes:
- Find a cure through financially supporting active research
- Provide Charlie with aids that will support his independence and make his life a little easier.
Duchenne is classed as a rare disease and trials into treatments and cures are not funded through the government. There are very promising trials currently happening. Our strength and hope comes from knowing that we are scientifically advancing and treatments are being developed with the hope a cure will soon be found for all suffering with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). It is our aim to donate regular funds raised through Chance for Charlie to these on going researches.
Unfortunately NHS have faced huge cut backs. There are often large shortfalls in funding for disabled and many things are not covered through the NHS. There are many pieces of equipment or services that would help both Charlie and his carers. An example of these could be remote controlled lighting, which would enable Charlie to independently change his environment without having to rely on someone to be by his side, Hydrotherapy which is not provided in Hampshire but is a therapy that specialists feel is hugely beneficial, or even ramps for the accessible van to help include Charlie on family days out. For children and adults with DMD, independence and inclusion is so important, it provides so much more that something as simple as lighting, it's what offers dignity and empowers from the confinements of their deteriorating bodies.
We are very open with how the fund is spent and now we have a new website we will aim to post monthly updates. In the meantime if you have any questions do not hesitate to ask and if you feel you may be able to help in anyway please send us a email.
